We grow fresh cut flowers and natural dyes in Callander, Ontario. Our methods are based on ecological principles, ensuring the health of our environment and community.
Our flowers are more than lookers. We choose our varieties based on their performance as a cut flower, plus other attributes. We consider how colourfast they are as a natural dye, how they taste as an edible flower. Are they handy to have around for an herbal remedy? Or can they also be processed into a fibre for making linen or other textiles? The many uses for our beautiful blooms may surprise you!
But first and foremost, we grow our flowers to be cut and enjoyed. We love sharing the soothing beauty of nature, through the simple process of gathering flowers from the garden for a vase on your kitchen counter.
Pick up a fresh flower arrangement every other week from May until October. Freshen up a room, share with a friend, enjoy on your dinner table. Something different and gorgeous at every pick up.
An ecological alternative to synthetics, our natural dye plants give soothing colour to the Flour Sack Tea Towels. Register for a Tuesday night workshop and discover regional colour. We will be rescheduling all workshops until the COVID-19 bans are lifted.
From a big wedding to an intimate dinner party, we have flowers for all occasions. As seasons change, so do our varieties and colour palettes. A May wedding will look very different from an October one. We will be booking virtual consultations during COVID-19 bans.
Why You’ll Love Us
Here at The Colour Farm, we don’t just select our flowers based on beauty. Every flower has more than one purpose. They make a beautiful bouquet, might be edible, dried for herbal tea or used as a natural textile dye.
